Yifan Named 2026 DOE Early Career Research Program Awardee

Yifan has been selected to receive a 2026 Early Career Research Program (ECRP) award from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science. Yifan is among 67 early-career scientists nationwide sharing this honor.

Supported by this award, Yifan will explore how urban drainage systems respond to storms and work to enable a wet-urban parameterization in the state-of-the-science E3SM Earth System Model. This work lays the foundation for Yifan's broader research interest in how human activity affects water quality, by estimating the volume of combined sewer overflow reaching receiving water bodies in an Earth System Modeling framework.
